Some good looking curves of root canal

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Some interesting cases.

The following radiograph is of mandibular molar with five canals. ( with Middle mesial & distolingual canals as extra canals).

One more case of mandibluar molar with five canals, in pre-operative radiograph we can observe that mesiolingual canal is dividing into two canals. ( Sorry for not uploading post obturation radiograph, institution has to maintain the patient`s case records) and since we have no x-ray machine in our department, some of the radiographs are of poor quality.

This following radiograph is of mandibular lateral inciosrs with two distinct canals.

These following radiographs are of maxillary and mandibular molars respectively with curved canals.

The following case is of maxillary central incisor with bunderbuss canal. Canal was obturated with Roll-cone or Tailor made cone technique.

In this case the maxillary central incisor was fractured due to trauma with extrusion of coronal part. Post operative radiograph we can see that the tooth was repositioned almost to normal position and splinted. Case is under follow-up.

Following case is of maxillary lateral incisor with "DENS-IN-DENTE". The canal was obturated with VERICAL CONDENSATION technique. Observe the coronal constriction and wider juxta apical portion of root canal and also sinus tracking with gutta percha- a large periapical lesion.

The following radiographs were to appreciate the obturation of apical ramifications (usually only the sealer would flow).

Maxillary canine with two canals

Most practioners begin endodontic treatment with pre conceived ideas about anatomy and positions of root cananls. But it is important to be familar with variations in tooth anatomy which will aid in recognition and negotiation of canals and their management.

Maxillary canine is statisticaly more common to be single rooted and single canaled tooth.

This report presents a case of maxillary canine with two root cananls.

Go through the case and leave your comments. Thank u.
